Uninsured Services
The Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan pays for many services a patient may receive from his or her physician, but not all services. For those services not covered by AHCIP, physicians are directed to bill patients directly. Should you not be able to afford the fee, please discuss this with your physician, and an accommodation may be arranged. We respect the financial constraints of some patients, and will provide necessary medical services regardless of ability to pay.

The following uninsured services are NOT covered by the AHCIP and subject to fees:

Driver's medicals

Telephone/messaging prescription renewals

Travel advice and immunizations

De-insured procedures (e.g., circumcision, wart removal, driver's medicals)

Notes, forms, reports or letters that are not related to a medical referral

Travel or most government related forms

Transfer of medical records

Payments
Our preferred method of payment for uninsured services is by e-transfer. You may send a secure e-transfer to: <focushealth email>

Alternatively, we have ViSA and MasterCard capability. <If online, I believe these options can be accessed via PayPal. If manually by phone or tap, then we can use any provider such as Elavon.>

We are unable to accept cheques. Cash is discouraged.

Optional annual block fees for private/uninsured services
Focus Health Clinic offers the following optional annual block fees to cover select private patient services on an annual basis.

Care+ A: All work notes, school notes for your children, notes for massage therapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture, chiropractic services: $75 per year

Care+ B: All work notes, school notes for your children, notes for massage therapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture, chiropractic services PLUS unlimited appropriate medication renewals without doctor appointments, driver's medical forms, other 2-page insurance/legal forms: $150 per year

Care+ C: All the services of Care+ B PLUS appropriate messaging requests for investigation requisitions or referrals ahead of appointments, messaging a copy of investigations and consultations received by your physician including brief interpretative comments by your physician: $250 per year
